What is Community Nursing Initiatives?
Maybe Who? Hi, I'm Tom Allred: Registered Nurse - Entrepreneur - Volunteer. How can I help you today?
Community Nursing Initiatives is an umbrella organization covering the various ways I employ in our community the Registered Nurse license I earned in 2006. Those ways have included working as a bedside nurse in Critical Care and Neuro ICU units at a local hospital. Almost as long as I've been a nurse I've volunteered at a local free medical clinic performing Nursing and Coordinator roles. As a contractor for a medical organization offering COVID-19 testing and vaccinations I've injected and helped test thousands of people.
As a Registered Nurse I've been an agent of change seeking to improve healthcare access and outcomes for patients. While working in Neuro ICU I was able to get IV policy changed to be more effective throughout all hospitals in the organization. Although outside my regular duties at the free clinic, I negotiated with the clinic's EMR provider to develop gratis new reporting to improve patient experience and satisfaction, and make clinic visits more efficient. Normally this would have cost the clinic over $800. One of the reasons I was able to successfully shepherd the IV and Reports projects is because for 25 years in a prior life I was a computer and software entrepreneur running a small business providing services to other businesses. With the expansion of my service offerings into Grant Writing, Consulting, and Program Coordination/Management. I decided to bring these various projects and services under one structure to better serve the healthcare needs of our community. Click on the links below to explore different areas of service.
